Fuse your practice :: movement, mind + muse

The Sou'wester Lodge

November 5-10

Untangle from the demands of everyday life to find personal and creative balance. Allow the cool ocean air of the Long Beach Peninsula to refresh your being and the warmth of community to fuel your creativity. Designed as an artist’s residency, this retreat will offer you support through movement, meditation and healthy routines to nurture and inspire in your art practice. During our week together at the Sou’wester we will focus on nourishing ourselves and our creative disciplines. Through self-care and self-reflection we will cultivate a more holistic approach for maintaining balance in our lives. Daily meditation and movement practices will rejuvenate your mind and body to facilitate your creative flow.

During this retreat we will be focusing on sensory strengthening to develop a more integrated practice. For movement, we will explore a gentle, alignment centered approach to yoga as well as exercises to promote strength and mobility that can be easily taken of the mat and into your daily life. For meditation, we will utilize simple techniques focusing on the present moment, judgement-free observations and mantras. Movement and mind practices bring more clarity into our artistic pursuits, nourishing and cultivating our inner awareness, as well as, engaging and expanding our senses. To encourage balance and focus, optional prompts will be offered to extend our mindfulness into the studio. Together we will investigate how these practices can support one another and become more fluidly united.

Please come prepared with a project you would like to further develop, or ideas for the next creative endeavor. Your intentions will guide your process. The gift of time and space in a nurturing environment is truly transformative. Leave the retreat feeling balanced, refreshed, and re-connected to your art practice, your body and your heart.
